Goodbye Chocolate

About two months after surgery I started eating one square of high quality, 70+ chocolate.  It's good for the heart, great antioxidant, etc., etc., etc.

Well, I should have known better.  I've only lived with this common problem ALL MY LIFE!!!  It started with one small square, I was good for a month, then it increased to two squares.  Now I've noticed that its three square, a few times a day.  Sooooooooooo

I brought my two bars in and am donating them to the break room table.  I am not able to eat just one square, but end up eating the whole bar by the end of the evening.  It tastes yummy, but the bad feelings I have mentally are not worth it, plus I'm not losing weight, (gee, I wonder why?)

Same old mental voice, "go ahead, you want it, you deserve it, it won't hurt you, it's just a little chocolate, you only live once, blah, blah, blah...."

I'm going for a walk..............wearing my shape-ups, after I take these two bars up to the visitor center.

There are a few foods I just can't have in the house.  Like Cheezits.

One option for chocolate, if you want to go there, would be to go to a candy store that sells chocolates by the pound and just buy one piece.  There is a great place that makes candy by hand near my house and I go sometimes and buy three pieces of sugar free chocolate and eat one a day.

I can't have cheezits in the house either.  They always have a big box at work and1 handful is  my 3:00 afternoon treat, but like today when I'm home or on the weekends I don't even think about them because they aren't in my face.

I'm sad for you- but I think you are making the right choice! When I need chocolate I do sugar free because it helps keep me in line if you know what I mean.

My only chocolate in the house is my calcuim chocolate chews and my protein drinks.  As long as I have those, I can live without the rest.  Someone even brought chocolate ice cream in and after one taste, I decided I didn't need it.  But I do love the chocolate chews.

I just got back from the visitor center.  Both bars were demolished within a few seconds.  And they all love me at the moment

Well, Lucy, I know what you mean. I can't and don't bring many things into the house, because I know that I wouldn't be able to stay away from them. Peanut butter, almonds, crackers, chocolate, and other things I don't bring into the house. I did okay with the almonds for awhie, but when I started grazing on them, I got rid of them. I did the same thing with jerky. Old behaviors and habits die hard.

RIP chocolate!  We don't need YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!  I'm a chocoholic, too, Sue!

I said good bye to our candy jar last week - nobody noticed.  I'm sure we'll get our fill at Easter and 2 weeks after I'll dump that, too!

I was a die hard chocoholic before my surgery.  I would have considered cutting off a limb to get my candy bar fix.  After surgery, I have no desire for candy bars.  None!  About 2 weeks ago I decided I was going to take a bite of a mini Peppermint Patty.  I couldnt even eat it.  I spit it out.  It just didnt taste good to me.  Now I still have my desire for cake/cupcakes from a local bakery.  But candy bars ..... bleh!   Cindy

Good for you Sue.  I know what you mean.  I can't have chips in my house.  I can eat a lot of them and still love them!!  I always rewarded myself with food and treats.
